one of my favorite aspects of fashion is designers, stylists, and women who play with opposites. the dichotomies, the highs and lows, the masculine and feminine, the hard and soft. i love this spread from Grazia, where even the hair transitions from soft, wild, and romantic to hard, straight, and stiff. dresses with clean lines to dresses covered in gold fringe and organza, and my favorite... a feathered strapless column dress, relaxed with a grey t-shirt underneath. flawless.

i just want to be perfect
it's been a long time since i've been as excited about a movie as i am for 'Black Swan.' not only do i LOVE natalie portman, ballet, and dark, twisted plotlines, but Rodarte made the costumes for this film, and i'm really excited to see their beautiful, couture interpretation of ballet costumes. fashion and film, two of my passions in one. a girl couldn't ask for a better december 3rd!
i just want to be perfect...
sunday morning inspiration: an elegant haunting
feathers, lace, vintage velvet sofas, beading, and perfect goth-inspired make-up. oh, and did i mention killer black stilettos?
happy halloween!

the sky's the limit
sometimes it's the dress, sometimes it's the shoes. and i love it when shoes scream out loud! there is just something about a sexy, well-crafted, and sky-high pair of heels that makes a girl totally swoon. for me, the red sole and flawless arch of the shank on a pair of louboutins.... it gets me every time. nothing is sexier.

she's walking through the clouds with a circus mind that's running 'round...
major, major dresses. there is nothing more romantic, dramatic, or whimsical than a dress that demands an entrance, demands half of the backseat of a cab, demands two seats at the dinner table, or demands that your date walk behind you to help you around tight corners or through narrow doorways. if i had the means, i'd literally wear a dress like this every day of my life. can you imagine walking into a wednesday morning meeting wearing a dress with a 5 foot silk organza train? ...it's the stuff my dreams are made of.
p.s. listening to horse feathers - like lavender. this song is to die for.

open up your mind and see like me, open up your plans and damn you're free
mind over madness.
1. exercise - when you exercise you are present in the moment and not focused on worries or concerns.
2. get enough sleep - insufficient sleep can make it more difficult to cope with the normal challenges of daily life. most adults need 7-8 hours of sleep to function optimally.
3. eat well - a balanced diet of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins can help reduce stress by stabilizing blood sugar levels.
4. pay it forward - studies show that people who approach life with a positive attitude are less stressed. begin every day by making a mental list of all the things you are grateful for.
5. live in the moment - accept that some things are out of your control. focus on making decisions that will lead you in the direction of your goals.
6. get organized - being disorganized can add to your stress level. knowing where things are and reducing clutter helps you focus on important things.
7. meditate - there are many ways to meditate. practice yoga, take a walk in nature, sit quietly, spend time with your pet, or take a bubble bath.
8. say no when necessary - avoid taking on more than you can accomplish.
9. hydrate - drink plenty of water throughout the day. water regulates body temperature, aids in the absorption of vitamins and minerals, and detoxifies the kidneys and liver.
10. lean on your support system - people who have a strong social network of family and friends typically report less stress and better ability to cope.

in the city of dreams...
most new yorkers have a story. a series of events, places, and people that led them down the rabbit hole to the greatest love affair of their lives... the romance with manhattan.
the soho grand hotel.
corner of hudson and leroy, and a certain apartment in this building.
the mercer kitchen.... no words.
pastis.
bumble and bumble downtown. in so many ways.
gansevoort hotel rooftop bar.
the restaurant at bergdorfs. these chairs...
barney's. and fred's at barney's.
these are the places and moments in my past that led me to the never-ending love affair with new york city that i am so deeply entrenched in now. places that when i go there, or people from these places.. that when i'm with them... even on the worst day, they remind me why i fell in love with this city. and how lucky i am to live in the best city in the world, to live in a place that has always been home to me, even before i knew it was home.
new york, new york, i love you.

girls i love - oh so coco
coco rocha is one of my favorite of-the-now gals! a great, classic face. LOVE the chocolate mocha hair (love me some brunettes. ...maybe i'm bias!). most importantly, i love her seemingly fun and happy-go-lucky attitude! she seems to always be having a good time! recently married, she was a stunning bride in zac posen, and she was the definition of perfect in OdlR's spring 11 show. girl. can. walk!
viva la coco!
