up first was the People's Choice Awards - a more casual affair than the typical awards shows, but sadly, no one really stepped up to the plate. there was a litany of bad cocktail dresses, poor fit, weird design details, and just overall poor choices. the only winner of the night (and i'm not talking about awards) was, naturally, Emma Stone...
Emma Stone blew the competition away in this green Gucci blazer and tuxedo pants. she's looks incredibly fresh, stylish, young, and sophisticated. absolute perfection.
Chloe Moretz was a close 2nd in this cute, fabulously age-appropriate Proenza Schouler frock and little mary-jane pumps. i don't even think she's 15? but she looks perfectly on point - bravo to her stylist for not trying to make her into an adult too early.
and bringing up the rear for the only 3 girls who turned it out for the People's Choice Awards - Jennifer Morrison in Oscar de la Renta. i think she's on How I Met Your Mother..not totally sure? but either way, she's very pretty and this dress is stunning on her - perfect fit, perfect for her body, and compliments her pretty face beautifully. the nude pump, top knot, drop earrings, and simple clutch round her out - she looked very, very beautiful.
and now...the messes...in no particular order...
Lea Michele in Marchesa. this dress is awful, but there's something i severely dislike about this girl. the blah hair and the fuschia lip isn't helping either. it's just not the best look for her.
i have no idea who this is or what she's wearing but omg it's AWFUL.
KATNISSSSSS. Jennifer Lawrence in Viktor & Rolf. the dress is risky - which i like, but i don't think she has the right body to pull it off...and the hair is all wrong. don't get me wrong - her body is bangin'...the right to bare arms, indeed. and the shoes are perfect. but a softer look on hair and makeup would have done this structured dress well and would have flattered her body much more. it just didn't turn out right.
Demi Lovato in Marchesa. ooohh sorry girl, this was a 100% miss. the dress is pretty in itself, but the color is all wrong for her burgendy locks and don't even get me started on the fit. i know she's had some issues and i am in, no ways, slamming her figure at all, she looks just lovely, but the dress doesn't fit her at all, squeezing her in undesirable places (back fat, ack!), the hair is like bad prom hair, and the dress just reminds me of something one of the Real Housewives of Orange County would wear. the whole look is just tacky.
Lucy Hale - not sure who made this dress. it has schizophrenia though. chiffon side train (?), embellished body, one padded shoulder, one bare shoulder... the tranny shoes? yikes. she's a very, very beautiful, very pretty girl - adorable face and great body - but this dress did nothing for her. she just looked conflicted. and the neckline cut her neck off, not the most flattering for her face shape.
Kristen Bell in Valentino. again, not a terrible dress, but not pulled together very well. the hair shows zero effort, the make-up looks minimal, and there just seems to be no effort at all to dress this look up. the shoes are cute but fall flat with the overall look.
i'll spare you the rest - but here's to hoping the Golden Globes on Sunday gives us a little more....
